Garguilo & Garguilo have always had a tradition of excellence in periodontics and implantology as is reflected by all doctors having achieved the status of Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology*. Mark J. Gargiulo, D.D.S.
	Dr. Mark Gargiulo earned his Bachelor of Science, General Dental, and Advanced Graduate Study in Periodontics degrees from the prestigious University of Loyola in Chicago. Upon graduation in 1991, he has practiced periodontics exclusively with his father, Anthony Gargiulo, D.D.S. and Peter Roberson, D.D.S. Their practice in Chicago, Illinois is limited to periodontics and dental implant surgery. He is a member of many dental societies such as the Chicago Dental Society, Illinois State Dental Society, American Dental Association, the American Academy of Periodontology and the Academy of Osseointegration (Dental Implant Society) and the International Congress of oral Implantologists. Dr. Mark Gargiulo has published several articles in the CDS Review: Jan. 1999 - Oral connections to medical disease Mar. 2000 - Defining biologic width in crown lengthening.
Anthony W. Gargiulo, D.D.S., M.S.
	Dr. Anthony Gargiulo received his Periodontal Graduate Degree from Loyola University in 1959. In addition to full-time periodontal practice, Dr. A. Gargiulo has held teaching positions at Loyola University for thirty-five years, becoming the Department Chairman of the Department of Periodontics from 1962-1992. He has been a contributing author to a number of periodontal texts, has published a great many research papers, and lectured world-wide. Dr. Anthony Gargiulo is a member of numerous dental societies including the Chicago Dental Society, Illinois State Dental Society, American Dental Association and the American Academy of Periodontology. He has also held many positions of trust in these dental organizations including; Chairman of the Publications Review Committee for the American Academy of Periodontology and Chairman of the American Board of Periodontology.
Christine M. Gadia, D.D.S., M.S.
	Dr. Christine M. Gadia earned her Bachelor of Science degree, Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, and Masters Degree in Oral Science from the University of Illinois. After receiving her Certificate in Periodontics from the University of California, Los Angeles, she joined the private practice of Drs. Mark and Anthony Gargiulo. Dr. Gadia has received a number of awards for education excellence. These include; the American Academy of Dental Materials Award, the Arm and Hammer Dental Award, the Dentsply Award, and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Clinical Science Award at the University of Chicago College of Dentistry. She has advanced clinical experience in: Comprehensive Periodontal Therapy Guided Tissue Regeneration Periodontal Plastic & Esthetic Surgery Implant Treatment Planning & Placement Sinus Augmentation She is a member of all relevant dental societies including the California Dental Society and the Western Dental Society.

All of our doctors have achieved the status of Diplomate.

To be educationally qualified for Board certification requires:

Certification as a dentist, including basic college education and completion of dental school to earn the D.D.S. or D.M.D. degree and;
Certification as a periodontist after at least 3 years of postdoctoral study in an ADA approved program. This period of study is concentrated on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of periodontal disease.

In addition to the educational requirements, Board certification requires:

Comprehensive oral and written examinations covering all phases of periodontal disease and its treatment, including dental implants.
Presentation of detailed reports on a broad range of actual treatments personally provided by the periodontist.
